| Claudette Colbert is my favorite female movie star. To have finally gotten to see her in 1958, when I was 17, was pure heaven. I had box seats and was fortunate enough to have had them on her side of the stage as both she and Charles Boyer spoke at podiums on opposite sides of the stage. In later years I got to meet and talk with and get an autograph from Ms. Colbert during her run with Rex Harrison in "The Kingfisher" in San Francisco. When I mentioned to her that I saw her in "The Marriage Go Round" in NYC she looked up at me and answered, "My dear, you can't be that old!". When I said that I indeed was, she replied, "But, dear, I'm not that old!" |
