I was 15 years old when I sat in the balcony of the theater, with my mother, eagerly awaiting the first time I was to see the great Ethel Merman, live. The show was a spoof on the Prince Rainier/Grace Kelly marriage. It featured fine music and a song that became big on the hit parade, "Mutual Admiration Society". Quite the fashion show, Miss Merman wore one knockout costume after another but when costar Fernando Lamas came out in an all white suit, the matinee audience, to a woman, audibly gasped at his beauty. He outshone, at least in this scene and costume, the one and only Merman. Another great song is "A New-Fangled Tango" which the wonderful Lena Horne later included on one of her albums.
