Someone liked this thing?

This was one of the least entertaining pieces of trash to be put on the stage in the 70's, and that's saying something. I mean, I can appreciate someone wanting to take a fresh approach to Hamlet (or any classic drama), but this was such a lame attempt that it doesn't even have "camp value." I mean, really, a rock song about someone who "got it in the ear?" Disaster doesn't even begin to describe it. |

Hamlet Rocks Despite Reviews!

Although it was almost 20 years ago, I still remember Meat Loaf coming down the illuminated staircase as the King. I also recall the audience screaming and cheering over their standing ovation, and the critics ripping this to shreds, causing it to close prematurely. Lavish production values, as well as a fine cast (check out the list) made this show a production worth seeing. I am glad I was one of the privaleged few to have seen this. |
